For their resort 2022 collection, Mark Badgley and James Mischka turned to two classic 1942 films and their leading ladies - Bette Davis as Charlotte Vale in Now Voyager and Ingrid Bergman as Ilsa Lund in Casablanca – for their sources of inspiration.

“We were going over some of our favorites during the pandemic and just rewatching these older movies,” James Mischka explains. “In Casablanca , you have those suits with strong shoulders and flowing pants, everything that Bergman wore was incredible, and even her personality; being the most dangerous woman in the most dangerous city in the world was powerful, he continued. Mark Badgley adds, “Then you have Davis when she transforms into a beautiful social butterfly. There’s so much glamour and romance in those films, it’s what inspired the collection.”
